When Will Brady & Manning Get Paid?
As crazy as it may seem, both Tom Brady and Payton Manning are still waiting to get their new contracts... contract that will likely make the duo the highest paid quarterbacks ever in the NFL. It seems like both camps are playing a game of chicken, waiting for one side to sign so they can use that as leverage in their own negotiations. Either way, should be interesting to see how much they make.

Brett Favre… Here We Go Again!
Multiple sources are reporting today that Brett Favre has officially called it a career. Uh huh... See, the thing is, he's done this at least twice before. Now I know his ankle is probably still bothering him, but I just can't imagine Favre staying on the sidelines when the season starts in September.

NHL Contracts Are Out Of Control
Last week the NHL rejected the New Jeresy Devils 17 year, 102 million dollar contract offer to Ilya Kovalchuk. They said the last four years were added on for the sole purpose of driving their salary cap figure down. Now the NHL Players Association has filed a grievance with the league. But the length of these contracts is what gets me. How can you lock a player in for over a decade is beyond me.

Floyd Landis: A Liar I Can Believe!
http://thesportsreportgirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Floyd-Landis.jpg I know theres absolutely no reason in the world to believe a word Floyd Landis has to say. After all, hes an admitted liar and cheat and has become a pariah in the dirtiest of sports. All that aside, I tend to believe the guy. I know lance Armstrong never failed any drug tests, but I find it just a bit too much to believe that hes one of the only ones in that sport to play by the rules.

The Blackhawks Are Back In The Stanley Cup Finals
The People of Chicago are going crazy because of one man Dustin Byfuglien! Big Buff, as he is known, single-handedly beat the San Jose Sharks by scoring three game winning goals, and thereby sending the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 18 years. The kid sure has delivered after being promoted to Chicagos top line.

Where Will Lebron Land?
Ever since the Cavaliers were eliminated from the playoffs, ESPN and their talking heads have been chiming away non stop as to where they think King James will play ball next season. For several years the Knicks have been preparing for this opportunity, but a dark horse has emerged as the leading contender to win the Lebron Sweepstakes the Chicago Bulls. Will the Annointd One be able to live in the shadow of Michael Jordan? Or will he be the one to step out of that shadow and lead the Bulls back to the Promised Land?

Amir Khan: Boxing’s Next Superstar?
It sure seemed like the mainstream sports media made a really big deal out of Amir Khan last weekend when he dominated Paulie Malignaggi. Maybe it was because the fight marked his US boxing debut, or maybe it was the fact he now has superstar trainer Freddie Roach in his corner. Either way, the powers that be seem to be looking forward to a day when the biggest names in boxing are no longer Mayweather or Pacquiao.

Lane Kiffin: USC’s 4 Million Dollar Man!
I was as flabbergasted as the rest of you when I read about the money Lane Kiffin makes as the new head football coach at USC. But apparently its true the Men of Troy are paying Lane four million dollars a year to coach the Trojans. Which begs the question, what are they going to pay him when (and if) he actually wins something?

NHL Viewership Better, But Still Bad!
The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs showed a 25 percent increase from last year, and they were the best in almost a decade. Still, less than one million people are watching the average NHL playoff game. That would be different if the league were willing to push back their season so the playoffs started in June. Then they would only be competing with baseball on a nightly basis, and ESPN would gladly air their games.

Who You Gonna Blame If Mayweather Pacquiao Doesnt Happen?
The Mayweather/Mosley fight last Saturday night turned out to be a total let down. The hype and promotion was top notch, but after the second round, the outcome was never really in doubt. From a business perspective, it was a smashing success. From the fans perspective, it sucked. Naturally one would think a Super Fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao should be next, but something tells me neither side will be willing to budge when it comes to drug tests. Pacquiao claims random blood testing within 24 days of the fight will give Mayweather an edge. Not sure why he thinks ...

Barry Melrose, NHL Hippie
Tuesday will be the first game seven of the NHLs Playoffs and as we all know, theres nothing more exciting than a game seven of a hockey series. Despite all the action, though, theres one thought I cant get out of my mind What the hell is Barry Melrose doing with his hair?

The NFL’s New “Captain of the God Squad”
Kurt Warner retired last winter, vacating his position as the reigning Captain of the God Squad in the NFL. But fear not, for the Denver Broncos selected Tim Tebow with the 25th pick over all, thereby filling the post. The Legend of Tebow is great, but so too is the Legend of Elway. Those are some big shoes to fill, and no one has been able to fill them since Elway retired. Can Tim Tebow be the guy? Only time will tell. But if the kid cn practically walk on water, why wouldnt he be able to win games in ...
Big Ben & Tiger… That’s All I Missed?
Okay, so I was away for a couple weeks and, as such, missed some really big stories from the world of sports. The biggies were Tigers return to the Masters, where he played quiet well despite his own overblown expectations. And of course the other big story was that Big Ben Roethlisberger avoided going to the big house when the DA down south decided not to file sexual assault charges. Though he wont be serving any jail time, the Commish is sure to put the smack down on him with a several game suspension next season. Dont be surprised if ...
Urban Meyer’s Apology Disappoints
Last week Urban Meyer had a PR nightmare on his hands when he publicly emasculated Jeremy Fowler of the Orlando Sentinel. The outburst was caught on tape, and soon, it spread across the internet. Talking heads everyone castigated the Florida coach for stepping over the line. His way of repairing the situation was to have a private conversation with the reporter whereby he was able to explain himself. Fowler accepted his apology, but afterwards, Meyer refused to face the media. From my point of view, that was a big mistake. The right thing to do is to offer a public ...

Gilbert Arenas Receives Just Sentence
We all know that Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton were stupid to bring weapons to their place of work. And though the court could have thrown the book at him, Arenas was only sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house, two years probation and 400 hours of community service. Some may think he got off easy but considering the plea deal Crittenton received, it wouldve been wrong to punish him more. After all, both were at fault here, but only Arenas suffered the public scorn and humiliation. Sure, he brought a lot of it on himself by not taking ...

Big Ben Still Not Talking, Probably Never Will
Its going on three weeks since this story broke, and amazingly the Police still havent spoken with Ben Roethlisber. They did, however, rescind their request for a sample of his DNA. And now the woman who filed the complaint against him is reportedly refusing to give a follow up statement to the Police. But one person who will soon be speaking with the Steelers QB is NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Whether Big Ben is innocent or guilty, one thing the commish will certainly convey is his intolerance for players casting the league in a negative light.

Brackets May Be Busted, But I’m Lovin’ The Madness
The first two rounds of the 2010 NCAA Tournament have been overrun with upsets. And though my brackets are officially busted (I bet youre pretty much in the same boat), I have enjoyed the drama. So at this point I say keep it coming. Lets see Cornell or Northern Iowa in the Final Four. Heck, for that matter, lets see one of them in the title game! Now that would be exciting.

Reviewing The Tiger Woods Interviews
As we all know, Tiger Woods is making a comeback. Next month he is set to resume his career at the Masters. But someone in his camp was smart enough to realize that he couldn’t just show up at Augusta National without fielding a few questions first. Thus, two interviews, five minutes each, no restrictions on the questions that would be asked. The end result was both pleasing and surprising. It was the best thing he could do to "humanize" himself, and in turn, start the healing process for both his fans and sponsors.

Ben Roethlisberger… Sexual Predator or Bad Drunk?
The investigation into Ben Roethlisbergers alleged sexual assault case in will likely continue throughout the week. And while we all anxiously await word from the Milledgeville Police, one thing is already painfully clear Big Ben is starting to look a big dummy and a total creep!

NFL Overtime Rules “Under Review”
The NFL is finally considering a change to their long outdated overtime rules. The news is music to many football fans ears except when you dig a little deeper. The competition committee is suggesting overtime be changed only for playoff games okay, so far, so good and that both teams get at least one offensive possession all right, even better unless the first team scores a touchdown. Then its game over. Ridiculous, right? Both teams need at least one offensive possession, regardless of what the first team does. Anything short of that is simply unfair. But the NFL is concerned about ...

Team USA Blows “Golden” Opportunity
I guess we all knew how this one was going to end even before it began with Canada winning the Gold Medal in Hockey. But damn, it was a great game! And once the US tied it up with 24 seconds left in regulation, I honestly thought we were going to steal it away. But Sidney Crosby made sure that wasnt going to happen not on his watch, anyway.

Randy Moss Talking Himself Out Of New England
Entering the last year of his current contract, New England Patriots star wide receiver Randy Moss said at a charity softball event that the upcoming season would be his last in New England. He said he would be playing elsewhere in 2011 due to the economics of the game and the track record of the Patriots with veteran players. Now I dont know about you, but to me, thats one of the stupidest things Ive ever heard unless his intent was to ruffle managements feathers so he would get released and play elsewhere in 2010??? Then again, with Wes Welkers ...

Curling Kicks Ass!
The Winter Olympics are in full swing, and so far it looks like Team USA is running away with the Medal Count. Despite the amazing feats by Apollo Ohno, Bodie Miller and the US Mens Hockey Team, I find myself captivated, by of all things Curling. Im so into it that I dont want the Olympics to end. If DirecTV had a Curling Package, lets say it was called Extra Ends, I would so be a subscriber. But sadly, after the 27th, Ill likely have to wait another four years to get my fix.

Tiger Woods… Still A Douchebag!
For the first time in months, Tiger Woods stepped in front of a camera and addressed the nation. But sadly, his performance left much to be desired. Sure, he apologized and admitted he had more work to do in repairing his marriage. But very little of what he said came across as sincere and genuine. Many praised him for what he did Charlie Rymer of the Golf Channel even choked up afterward on the air. Some said he looked robotic, but to me, he just looked like a guy who could barely read. Most of all, though, his unwillingness to ...

Archie & Eli Secretly Love Saints Super Bowl Victory
I know I should be pleased with myself picking New Orleans to win, but Im still having a tough time coming to terms with the idea of the Saints as Super Bowl Champs. What's next, the Detroit Lions? I'm sure Peyton feels terrible throwing that pick-six, but something tells me Archie and Eli werent too upset about it. Keeps Peyton''s head from getting any bigger than it already is.

Brooklyn Decker Should Thank Dan Patrick
Brooklyn Decker was named the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model on last nights Late Show with David Letterman. And though Dave gets all the credit, Brooklyn should really be thanking Dan Patrick. Sports Illustrated knows the power Dan wields over sports fans the world over, and wisely chose one of his favorite swimsuit models for this years honor. The edition hits newsstands Wednesday, and the cover will surely make it on Dans wall of morale soon after. PS... Here's a sweet pic of McLovin from the Dan Patrick Show partying in Vegas with Swimsuit model Anne V.

Best & Worst Commercials From Super Bowl XLIV
When I was young girl, the Super Bowl almost always sucked. Year after year we were stuck with one blow out after another. But at least the commercials made up for the terrible games. Now it seems like we get great Super Bowls year in and year out, but somewhere along the line, the commercials have gone to hell.

The Sweet Science: Mayweather / Mosley
It may not be the fight we were hoping for a few weeks ago, but it should still be a good one. After years of flirting with the idea, Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather jr. has agreed to fight Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1st at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Dwight Freeney… Ticket To Saints Victory!
Its Super Bowl week, and all eyes are on Dwight Freeney more specifically, Dwight Freeneys Ankle. The super stud Defensive End hasnt practiced since injuring his ankle in the AFC Championship Game, and no one is certain whether he will be able to play in the Super Bowl. The Sports Report Girl offers her thoughts, along with her Super Bowl Pick!

SRG's Blog

A lot is going wrong in the NFL his year. Depending on what team you root for it’s either a blessing, same old or “we’ll get ‘em next year.” For these teams, there’s something wrong. Yet some of them still have playoff shots at the halfway point of the season. Dallas Cowboys (1-6) The pressure started on these guys when Cowboys Stadium... [Read more of this review]

Catch that opening game Miami Heat loss? Of course you did. Rooting against LeBron James is the most American thing to do now that the New York Yankees lost the American League Championship Series and the Dallas Cowboys suck. Since the NBA’s new Big Three united in July, the Heat have dominated all of the off-season talk. All because of these words:... [Read more of this review]

Watching just the first five weeks of this college football season, I legitimately believe this could be the best class of quarterbacks since 2004. And honestly, I think this class will be better than 2004. By my count, there are no less than five guys who could easily go in the first round. Before the season began, my top six quarterbacks list looked... [Read more of this review]

By Mike Cervantes It’s been about a week since Reggie Bush gave up his Heisman Trophy. Is this mess finally over? Anything else people want to pressure him into doing? There’s no denying what Bush did was wrong. Even if what he did exactly is kind of fuzzy, we know he was involved with a sports agent while playing college football, a big no-no. A... This past weekend, I officially ran out of people to hate in college sports. All of my enemies – all the teams, coaches and players I have spent the whole of my life casting my unmitigated enmity and vitriol upon – I can no longer find cause to even dislike. Lane Kiffin left Tennessee for USC. On Saturday his team barely squeaked by Virginia in... [Read more of this review]

So, last night was my annual fantasy football draft. It is not my favorite night. A friend once asked me to explain the intricacies of the National Football League. I relayed that a douche bag that is infected with entirely too much self worth throws an irritatingly odd shaped ball across the field to an even bigger douche bag with the ego the size... National Championship Game: Boise State 34 – Alabama 31 I like to kick things off with a bang. I know this may sound crazy, but follow my logic. The Broncos aka Blue Magic return 21 starters on offense and defense from last season. They went undefeated last season. They’ve got a great quarterback, a very talented offensive line and a spectacular... [Read more of this review]

Why They’re Here: They’re the champs. And you’ve got to beat the champs to be the champs. On offense, the Tide only got better. They return eight starters from a team that was exceptional last year and that includes Heisman Trophy winner RB Mark Ingram. Alabama will need to reload on defense, but come on, this is Nick Saban we’re talking about. The... [Read more of this review]

Why They’re Here: Like everyone else who writes about college football, I refuse to give up and accept that the Big (12) Ten has become an inferior conference. The Buckeyes are sort of like the Spurs this past year. You know that there’s no way they’re actually going to win a championship with the roster they had assembled, but you have to... SRG’s 2010 Fantasy Football Guide: Tight EndsTight Ends • Dallas Clark, IND – He is as reliable as they come at the position. Sometimes Peyton Manning will just lock in on him for an entire possession and opponents still can’t stop the duo. He is well worth landing in the #1 spot for tight ends, but just don’t take him before the 5th round. I believe this is a year where you can select... [Read more of this review]

Why They’re Here: Boise State is movin up in the world. This is the highest ranking the Broncos – or as I’ll be referring to them as henceforth, Blue Magic – have ever had and they’ve certainly earned it. They’ve managed three undefeated seasons in four years and have played in two BCS bowls and won both in that time. That’s an impressive... [Read more of this review]

Wide Receivers • Andre Johnson, HOU – This guy is a beast! AJ is the best wideout in the NFL right now and the clear-cut #1 fantasy option at the position. He is what Larry Fitzgerald was in last year’s fantasy draft. The Texans love to pass the ball and he has great chemistry with Matt Schaub. I’m thinking at least 12 TD’s in 2010. • Randy... Disclaimer: When I made this top 25, I had the [Name Removed] as my number four ranked team. That was before certain players had their Heisman trophy taken away, entire seasons were removed from the record books and they were banned from not only bowl games, but from even being considered for the coaches poll. The Good: I figured even without [unnamed... [Read more of this review]

Quarterbacks • Aaron Rodgers, GB – Hands down my #1 overall fantasy QB. Not just because he singlehandedly won me my fantasy league in ’09, but because he is the “real deal”. He threw 33 touchdowns a year prior, and I expect that number to be similar, if not a little higher. Green Bay offense is also loaded with offensive firepower. The... [Read more of this review]

The Good: The Hokies still have Tyrod Taylor and Frank Beamer. Coach BMW has proven the last few years that you don’t need superstars or even particularly good players to compete year-in and year-out for a conference title. Tyrod Taylor also showed that he might actually be able to pass the ball with some consistency last year, which is dangerous... [Read more of this review]
